What is the difference between Insulating brick and Fire Brick
What is the difference between Insulating brick and Fire Brick?
As we all know, the property of insulating brick is heat insulation, such as Mullite bricks. The fire brick is exposure the fire directly, such as high alumina brick.
So there is a big gap between insulating brick and fire brick. The main differences are as following:
1. Thermal Insulation property
For Insulating brick, the conductivity is 0.2-0.4w/m.k. For fire brick, the conductivity is more than 1.0 w/m.k, this proves insulating bricks is better than fire brick in thermal insulation property.
2. Refractoriness
The refractoriness of insulating brick is under 1400C. Fire brick is over 1400C.
3. Density
Insulating brick is a kind of light weight thermal insulation material, density is 0.6-1.2g/cm3. For fire brick, the density is over 2.0g/cm3.
Insulating bricks are focus on thermal insulation. Fire bricks are focus on refractoriness.
