Main factors affecting thermal conductivity of fiber blanket

     Thermal conductivity is an important index to test the insulation effect of CCEWOOL ceramic fiber, such as thermal conductivity will determine the insulation effect of CCEWOOL ceramic fiber blanket.

     Thermal conductivity is the ability of material to conduct heat, is a property of the material. It is usually used to represent the thermal conductivity of different materials, in units of W / m · K, which represents the unit at a temperature gradient through the material of the rate of heat flow per unit area.

     There are many factors to influence CCEWOOL ceramic fiber’s thermal conductivity. The main points are as following: 

     1. The chemical composition of the material

     The more complex chemical composition and the less impurities, the lower thermal conductivity. More complex the structure Mineral crystal is, the smaller its thermal conductivity is. Such as MgO · Al2O3 (aluminum-magnesium spinel) thermal conductivity than Al2O3, MgO are low, 3 Al2O3 · 2SiO2 (mullite) the structure is more complex than MgO · Al2O3, and thus a lower thermal conductivity.

     2. The impact of porosity

     Pore’ size, shape and distribution influence the thermal conductivity of materials. The thermal conductivity of the gas within the low porosity and therefore within certain temperature limits and porosity range, the greater the porosity is, the smaller the thermal conductivity is. The fibers of ceramic fiber blanket directly staggered forming more pores, when the heat passes through the ceramic fiber blanket , it needs to go through numerous staggered pores, so most of the heat will not be lost, so as to achieve good insulation effect.

     3. Temperature

     Temperature is also a basic factor to influence thermal conductivity. The higher the temperature is, the higher the thermal conductivity is. Thermal conductivity is certainly a stepped rising when 400 ℃, 800 ℃, 1000 ℃.

     The thermal shock resistance of CCEWOOL ceramic fiber blanket also has important influences on thermal shock, the smaller the thermal stress inside generated , the better the thermal shock resistance. Also it shows dramatic changes in temperature, the stronger their resistance to breakage. Such as CCEWOOL ceramic fiber blanket can maintain its good thermal insulation properties between long term service temperature and 1400 ℃. That because CCEWOOL ceramic fiber blanket has a low thermal conductivity, able to adapt to the environment.
