For the hot blast furnace, in order to ensure the safety and without major repairs within 20-30 years, people will choose right refractory material according to the different temperature, the temperature’s change speed, load and atmosphere, etc. Clay fire brick, high alumina brick and silica brick are the general choice. But for special locations, like the burning room, the top of furnace and the top of regenerator will use mullite brick and high quality silica brick.

     Besides the bulk density, thermal shock resistance and strength in high temperature, the creep resistance is more important to the hot blast furnace. People will use high quality silica brick in the high temperature parts. When it reaches 1450℃, it is better to use andalusite brick with 65% alumina, while in 1350℃, we will use andalusite brick with 55% alumina.
