CCEWOOL Views--choose of refractories used in reforming furnace
Currently, more than 80% of hydrocarbons is used as raw material for producing ammonia synthesis feed gas and hydrogen. The main equipment is the reformer. Thus, the reforming furnace is one of the main equipment for ammonia plant and hydrogen plant.

Stove masonry structure and common used refractory materials:
1. radiation chamber lining structure
Radiation chamber is the core section of the furnace, the quality of reforming furnace wall structure has a direct impact on if the conversion process can proceed normally.
1.1 Reforming furnace wall, the outer wall temperature of the radiation section is 121C, the furnace inner temperature is 1250C. Total furnace wall refractory lining thickness is 165mm, wherein the insulation thickness is 51mm, lightweight refractory bricks thick is 114mm.
1.2 furnace roof is using hanging structure, thickness is 114mm, among which the insulation layer is 51mm thickness. Hanging structure needs a variety of shaped brick with cumbersome, complex structure and long construction period, and the brick is easy to fall. Since refractory fiber industry is developing, it has been replaced by CCEWOOL refractory fiber lining more and more.
1.3 bottom, the bottom of reforming furnace has 10 clay brick masonry flue, flue’s width is 610mm, height is 1440mm, flue’s bottom is 51mm thickness insulation blocks and 114mm thickness insulation lightweight refractory bricks.
2. The transition segment lining structure
It is part of the transition section connecting the radiant section and the convection section. Face furnace wall is 152mm lightweight refractory concrete pouring, lined with 75mm thickness insulation block.
3. convection section lining structure
All convection section of the reforming furnace wall, bottom and roof are made of lightweight refractory concrete pouring.
