The characteristics and prospects of refractory ceramic fibres
In recent years, refractory ceramic fibres have wide applications in high-temperature sintering furnace, all kinds of products made form refractory ceramic fibres with the characteristics of good insulation, easy usage especially less heat storage, widely used in all kinds of furnaces, greatly showing high energy-saving efficiency.

The most important indicators of refractory ceramic fibres are diameter and thermal stability. Al2O3SiO2 fibre commonly used in ceramic industry, according to the level of Al2O3 content divided into different range, adding Cr2O3 composition can increase its antioxidant properties. Generally high alumina and low iron oxide impurity content refractory fibres products are pure white, if adding chromium oxide, fibers appears cream yellow color. The average diameter of refractory ceramic fibres is 2-4 microns.If the fiber is thin, low density and low thermal conductivity, operation temperature will be high. If the fiber is thick, density is high, the using effect is not ideal. The fiber’s thermal stability index is more important. Al2O3SiO2 fiber products’ linear shrinkage under 1260 ℃ is 35-88%. The shrinkage amount also directly affects the thermal stability.

Due to the rising energy prices, fuel costs will become a bottleneck to curb the ceramics industry’s development , energy-saving is more and more important. People are increasingly concerned about the furnace heat loss, some directly affixed CCEWOOL refractory ceramic fibres to the original surface layer in order to improve the thermal efficiency of refractory lining.Obvious cracks or peeling parts must be repaired before affix fibers on the lining. However, firebrick and refractory ceramic fibres can not be abused. So far, basic oxygen steel-making furnaces and cement rotary kiln lining are temporarily unable to use fiber as lining due to serious chemical attack under high temperature.
